    parachutes: Size v. Spill hole

The short answerr is - the recommended size of the apex vent is 10% of the ideal surface. For little rockets that use parasheets - 10% of the total surface area of the sheet. For bigger rockets that use parachutes - it depends.

    Constructing non-tubular rockets

What a cool idea. I can't wait to see the thread.

    Constructing non-tubular rockets

I can see where using a central tube to hold the motor and the parachute makes a lot of sense. The Delta Wedge seems to do that. It also looks like it uses the kind of construction techniques I was thinking about using. Aside from the extra weight, I would think that the induced drag...

    Constructing non-tubular rockets

I have been thinking about using some kind of paper to make a skin that I could glue to the airframe. So it would need to be something that could be easily cut. It would also have to shape or bend so it could curve around the airframe. I tried to find something about the thickness of a...

Invented baffle system? (Will it work?)

I don’t want to sound to pessimistic, but I think you may run into a geometry problem. The area of the holes in the sides of the tube must at least equal the cross-sectional area of the stuffer tube. I think you may find that once you remove enough material from the tube, you will compromise...

Well I was thinking X, Y, and Z. I would like to make nosecones, transitions and other parts that are not axisymmetric. So I think I need the Z axis to create rounded parts. I don’t have any experience building anything like it. But I am open to the possibility.

    closed cell polyuerethane foam

I thought all of the stuff at the lumber yard is polystyrene foam. If it is it is all open cell and low density. I was hoping to find closed cell polyurethane. I understand that it can come in the same density as balsa. That made it interesting. Do I misunderstand?

I am interested in making parts for BT60, 70, and 80 tubes. So I am looking for a 3 axis router and a lathe. Any suggestions ?

    cnc experience

I have been taking a course at the community college. Now I know enough to be dangerous. But I don’t really know how to use to make the things I want. I was also looking for someone who could shed a little light on what kind of machines are available. Everything I have found looks like...

    closed cell polyuerethane foam

does anyone have experience making nose cones out of this material. It comes in blocks, sheets, and cylinders. Apparently it can be machined. Some varieties have the density of balsa.

I caught part of Alien Siege on the SCIFI channel this last weekend. There were several cool looking rockets/spaceships in the segment I saw. Anybody have pictures of them?

Method for tying your shook cord

In the world of fishing tackle there are two knots that are consistently rated among the highest for strength. The one generally rated the highest is the Palomar knot. It is typically rated above 90% line strength. The second is the uni-knot. It is typically rated above 85%. The other knots...
