Great grandfather is on life support

I'm joining MarkII in his thoughts and prayers.

My 93 year old father (who was old enough to be my grandfather) passed away just a month ago. I have no idea how this will turn out for all of you, but you have plenty of sympathetic people here on TRF who are concerned about you.

PS... the stuff folks have said about the hospitals are right... they don't intend to infect anybody but it still happens... and I'm pretty well convinced from personal experience in my profession (agriculture) that resistance is a BIG part of the problem... probably more than they're willing to admit. Every time you apply a chemical to kill a pest or pathogen, invariably SOME (a very few individuals) survive... some by dumb luck, a bad job, or misuse or misapplication of the materials, but some because SOME trait within their cellular structure, some chemical, biological, or genetic trait gave them an edge that allowed them to survive. The survivors breed, which passes that trait to the next generation, at least in a few more than the last generation... so the next time the material is applied, MORE survive to breed and pass on whatever helps them survive... SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST at it's worst... we see it ALL THE TIME in agriculture, and medicine is in many ways quite similar to agriculture in this regard... Pretty soon you're fighting a pest with a chemical equivalent of 'shooting blanks' so it has no effect whatsoever...

There is a lot more 'bad stuff' floating around now than there used to be, for whatever reason. The "no 18 and under" rule sucks but they honestly think they're doing the right thing. Some of the diseases and contagions out there now are FAR worse and more virulent than in times past...

Updates on your GGrandfather's status?

Now he can't swallow, the doctors give home food and water via a tube, he is sub-concious, you can tell him what to do and he will do it, he still understands Chinese but he can't speak.
