The Club sent out email the 3/8 Launch is a go today

Watch the level of the water in the streams you'll cross.

Check the hotline - 925-443-8705 in case of last minute cancelation....

See you there!

LUNAR has scheduled a high power rocket launch for 3/1.

In the worse drought in recent years, low clouds and several days of rain on the forecast ... but stay tuned.

Call the hot line before going... (925) 443-8705.

Rain date 3/8.

I'm thinking the rain date is more likely to be launch day. Kind of a pain in the tookus for me as I had other plans for March 8.

Rob, do you happen to know if the Hotline number is a recording or dependent upon somebody manning the phone to answer it. I called the TCC Hotline before embarking on my 4-1/2 hr drive which meant it was very early in the morning. I wouldn't be calling as early as that with LUNAR, but still don't want to disturb anybody at an early hour.

Why can't we have a drought on the weekends. Did rain have seniority and get first pick on scheduling?

LUNAR's hot line is a recording... during the recording it will tell you when it was updated.

TCC's number on their website is Jack G's cell phone... Jack is normally on site the night before and replies to emails about conditions if he is up.

I called Jack at 4:30 a.m. the morning of the January launch. Remember, he was sick with a flu bug that day. I felt bad but he said he didn't get any sleep anyway.

I got the email ... bummer but not surprised at all given the forecast. Looking forward to the 8th now.

Kit ... you are just going to have to reschedule those other plans. ;)

Oh well, we do need the rain. But if Saturday ends up being a nice day, I'll be ticked.

I don't understand why it gets cancelled so many days in advance; why not wait and see what the conditions are closer to launch day. Only one thing, perhaps they are getting condition reports from the ranch and the ground is too saturated, making conditions unacceptable to vehicular traffic even if Saturday is sun y.

That could very well be it.

I'm sorry that the launch has been cancelled, but I'm really glad we're getting this rain.

Rain is good. Well, as long as it doesn't fall on a launch days.

Channel 3 weather guy ran out the next 10 days and said our next best chance for serious rain is next Thursday-Saturday.

Who knew the LUNAR rain date was going to get rained out, too.

Criminy...Sometimes ya just can't catch a break at all.

I'm holding out hope that Yahoo weather forecast is more accurate, which shows Friday thru Sunday as only partly cloudy with Saturday having the most sun and a high of 75 degrees.

In '94 I lived in Sacramento. That year we had rain every weekend for 2-3 months. It was bright and sunny Monday through Friday though. It drove me crazy.

I'm hoping that the launch on the 15th doesn't get canceled. The kids have been asking to work on their rockets this week and we should have at least one a piece done for their first launch.

I thought the LPR at Moffett was on the 15th.

Chris, I remember that period of weather back in 1994.

Accuweather now shows the entire week of Sunday March2 through Saturday March 9 being mostly sunny. Fingers crossed.

My new 38mm Crayon rocket is mostly ready for its debut. Have three motors prepped (H165R, H218R, I225FJ) and 1700' max altitude predicted by Thrustcurve.org sim.

I'm planning on being there 3/8.... I'll be there early and last to leave... I'm assuming with rain the ban on dark matter and metal storms are over...

3" Wildman Shreader - J540R
4" Wildman Vindicator - K540M
3" Wildman Intimidator - K456DM
3" Wildman DarkStar - J401FJ

Hadn't thought of that until you mentioned it, David.

I've got an H178DM in my motor box that would go nicely in my Squat or Crayon rocket.

Rain tomorrow but hopefully just enough to keep the dust down. LOL!

My rockets seem to have an affinity for water. I'm not impressed with it.

Wes won't be there with his boots. But Hanna will.

Will definitely be wearing boots. Gotta get busy deciding what rockets to bring, run some sims, so I can choose and assemble the motors beforehand.

Kind of eerie outside right now, the rain stopped and now the sound of thunder is in the air. Loud rumbling followed by some wicked cracks of thunder.

I never bring the right boots...should visit the local Walmart and pick up some dairy boots.

Given my history with rockets and water, I need waders.

Not sure my boots are the right boots, they're just boots . . . same ones I wear when I'm on my Harley; though, they are waterproof. Dairy boots, now there's an idea. I knew I should have snagged some rubber boots from work before I retired. At least I got to keep my gore-tex raingear.

I'm off to Walmart to pick up a pair of dairy boots this morning for the our launch. Hopefully last night's thunderstorm was the last of the ran until Sunday.

Does this count as something reportable in the "What did you do rocket-wise today" thread?
