After the 2 Trillion (6 Trillion according to Larry Kudlow) is injected into the economy?

Governments can print currency, but putting ink on paper does not create wealth...

So what happens next?

“All debts are paid.”

Sometimes by the borrower and sometimes by the lender.

Who’s the lender in this case?

Go look in the mirror.

We are the lenders.

$8000 for every one of us.

Our children and grandchildren will be holding the bag...

FREE SILVER! (historic reference, pre-civil war, not intended to be political.)

For food, it can go quite a way, presuming people don't waste it on expensive items.

It's meant as a short term aid, not as a permanent solution. Some people are so far underwater, for no reason of their own fault, that anything will help. For those who have enough, perhaps they could use it to help those who don't.

We can't lose sight of the long term while focusing on the short term...

How far will 1200 dollars go really?

Sign me up...
$1200?

I’ll never see that.

The income requirements preclude me from being eligible but I will get the bill for those who will be eligible. It has always been this way.

Remember Milton Friedman’s “All debts are paid” means either the borrower pays back the loan or the lender takes the loss.

In this case I will be one of the many “lenders” taking the loss. The so-called top 1% couldn’t fill a dixie cup with their alleged wealth. The wealth is actually held by the middle class. Politicians talk a good story about taxing the rich but they know the wealthy will either avoid paying their taxes with lawyers or by moving to another country. BTW, didn’t Apple transfer their wealth to Ireland? Why, yes they did.

Econ/Statistics major here. CSUSF, CCSF, UCB 1976.

And I’ll likely wind up paying everyone’s student loans that went to new cars, extended vacations, and designer tattoos.

Bitter? Nope. I served our country and retired after 40 years of state service. I now spend my days playing with rockets, lifting weights in my garage gym, drinking good beers and spirits, and patronizing the local gun club...not all at the same time, tho. ;)

It's politics, and not even good politics assuming there is such a thing...

I have been self employed my entire adult life...

I am a bit bitter about the whole fiasco...

Is this only the first $2 trillion ? I am staggered by this action, but I have to agree with it. The problem is Congress is already crafting the next bill!

Unless you (not you @aerostadt) are new to this planet, or are blind to reality...

you understand that government bureaucracies...

are an inefficient and expensive way to provide anything...

There are plenty of places to discuss politics, this forum isnt one of them.

Why do you keep starting these threads?

This is the watering hole sir...

And this is not a partisan thread...

Why can we not discuss monetary policies here...

First rule of the forum kid. I can read through your ellipses as you poke your head in to stir the pot.

Financial policy and politics are bedfellows joined at the hip.

Why dont you post about some of your rocket work these days? You did really great work a free spinning canard rocket. Talos or Talon was it?

We all have a common interest in rocketry...

But there are more important things in life...

Than balsa, cardboard, and plastic...
