My how time flies. I bought 2 of these bowls and never converted them. Going on 5 yrs ago now. I'd best "git er done"

Picked up my bowls last weekend and thinking of staging them. Should I have any concerns about doing that? (I'm thinking the booster bowl's plastic is sturdy enough not to melt from the sustainer's exhaust)?

Might be a good place to stick some Mylar tape

You might want to add a plywood disk (like a centering ring) on top of the first bowl (booster), to act like a blast deflector for the upper engine. I'm just leery that two might be a bit heavy and draggy for a single C6 to boost without a lot of weathercocking. Now if you had one converted for a D12 and did a D12-0 to a C6 (or C11-0 to C6), that oughta work great (years ago, I had two Centuri Flying Saucers, one D12 powered, and flew them staged several times).

Stopped into the local Dollar Tree store and now have three spider bowls at home and ready for conversion.

Thanks George, I keep forgetting how draggy saucers can be. Glad I didn't yet convert both to 18mm power, I like the idea of using a D12-0 for the booster stage (didn't Estes discontinue production of C11s? I really liked that in-between sort of motor).

After seeing one of the photos in this thread showing what looked like a reinforcement ring (assume that's exactly what it was) I went ahead and cut some out of 1/32 ply, since the fractional weight gain is more than made up for by the added strength and protection it provides.

My wife and I saw two of the original spider bowls being used for their intended purpose at our Kia dealer yesterday. I told the fellow behind the counter that I launch them, and they basically said “that’s cool!!”.
