Waiting for the perfect storm of "club launch date" and "free time" and "favorable weather" has been killing me the last few months. Because of that I've resolved if I wake up on a given morning and there's no wind or rain, I'm heading out to my dad's farm to launch some MPR stuff.

I usually get up around sunrise fired up and ready to go, and winds are usually most favorable around this time. My dad's farm has a couple of occupied houses within a half mile of my launch site. So my only question is how early is too early to fire up the glorious roar of some F and G motors without alarming people? On a weekday I'm thinking 7 or 8? Thoughts?

A half mile is pretty far away for them to hear the launch. Are these people farmers too? They would likely be up early.

Crank up your stereo to drown out the sound of the motors! No, wait ....

Seriously, I would not expect to be able to hear an F motor from 0.5 miles away. Go for it!

I'm a morning person as well so I do love a little "Dawn Patrol" . I think the neighborly thing to do is let them know of your plan and invite them to watch if they're up.
