Hey All, I picked up a JLCR from OneBadHawk/Teddy at Midwest Power two weeks ago and had my first chance to fly it today. I sent it up in an Estes Star Orbiter and had a great flight and it deployed almost perfectly around 400 feet. The problem started once I recovered the rocket...
After I recovered the rocket I pulled the chute release off to switch it to another rocket. I attached it to the second rocket. I pushed the down button to wake it up. It went through the normal start-up cycle and then showed full battery and 400 feet like normal. I burritoed the chute and attached the chute release. When I pushed the down button to do a ground test, I found that the down button was no longer responding. I then pushed the up button in the hopes of switching it off, and found that it was only responding intermittently, i.e. it took about 15 clicks to get the altitude from 400 to the Off setting. Once I got it to the off setting, the altitude lights all lit up and flashed like normal, except they then kept flashing for 5 minutes or so. At this point I pulled the JLCR off of the rocket and popped the case open to disconnect the battery to shut it down. I waited a few minutes and plugged the battery back in. I pushed the down button, it turned on and did the startup cycle, but then neither button worked. Also at this point the battery indicators and altitude indicator stayed lit instead of going into standby mode where the altitude blinks every few seconds. At this point I took it off the rocket and put it back in the range box. When I got home I brought everything inside and after putting everything away decided to test it again before sending an email to customer service. Of course it is working perfectly again....
Temp today was around 38 degrees F. There was a skiff of snow on the ground, but as far as I could tell, no snow had gotten in the charging port or anything upon landing and the rocket landed on some longer grass so it wasn't even lying down on the snow. I had a full battery when I armed it before the flight. Motor eject was around 1700-1800 feet and the CR set for 400 feet.
Any thoughts on what might have happened?
