Would it be ok to?...

I have a Raven and now a new Stratologger cf and want to know if it would be ok to set up continuity buttons and led’s for each ejection event? I know it isn’t “needed” I just wanted to see if it would be ok to do and not hurt anything? I would use tactile push buttons in the AV bay to accomplish it. Thank you.

Most flight computers do a continuity check for you. No need to add one on your own. Adding a switch and/or a shunt is another topic and one that can have the merits debated if you wish.

Yeah, I wasn’t wanting to do it because I “need” it, I just wanted to see if it’s be safe to add them just to make it look more interesting in the av bay.

I would not because if you introduce current at the wrong time you have no way of knowing how it might be interpreted by the firmware logic of the device or what effect it would have on the circuit. Plus it could be a path for static discharge through the electric match.

^^^ +1 What the other guys said. Just introducing unpredictability to the system.

the stratologger does the check when it is powered up and reports on the health(that is why it beeps, a triple beep means that drogue, main, and altimeter are good). it is possible to connect an led to the unit's data/audio output channel(a white led works best).

I would be remiss if I didn't point out a couple of things about the stratologger(cf) when last I looked, the data/audio output port was an optional extra, you'll need a 'JST' plug to connect to the port.

Yeah mine doesn’t. I may just buy a couple more that do have it on them after the first of the year. I’ll start looking into it and seeing what I can learn about it. Thank you.
