Has anyone used MicroSol on pistripping tape? I know the automotive pinstriping is thicker, but I was wondering if it will just take longer to have the same effect as it does on decals.

Vinyl tape and decal paper are different. I don't think it will have the same effect, although I haven't tried it. Why don't you give it a go and let us know the results?

I would agree with kuririn. I thought MicroSol is just weak acetic acid / vinegar meant for waterslide decals only. It does nothing to vinyl, pin striping tape, and plastic. Good thought though. You'd probably have better luck masking with cellophane & masking tape and then painting.
Good luck!

Note also that Microscale makes a very wide assortment of pre-printed waterslide decal stripes in many colors, including metallics. Worth checking out.
