@Gary Byrum there is nothing between the [SIGPIC] [/SIGPIC] Can you put a link there, or what did you have there before?

This. And it won't go in. I tried between the sigpic boxes like you suggested but as you can see, there's nothing there. Seems there should be some kind of indication that something is actually between the boxes. All that works there is the blinking vertical line.

Folks, this is straight from the Tips post.
Also, the adding images to conversations/private messages is enabled.
Now THIS I like a lot. There have been many occasions I wanted to send a file via messenger and we never had that option. THANK YOU!!!

post 457 and 458 for example, the pulldown that looks like a film strip, you enter the link and it puts the text in this format but in the old site would display them as an embedded video that you could view directly without going to youtube.

Also, in the "my threads" link at the top, it used to display my threads based on the most recent entries, now it seems to jumble them, maybe based on the start date of the thread, not the ordering based on most recent posts to threads which is better in my opinion.

Will you please give me a link. Just saying your threads tell me nothing. I cannot find the issue. Please - post the links.

For what it's worth, my My Threads *does* show reverse chronological based on latest posting to the thread.

Please explain 'EVERYTHING IS WRONG". I cannot give that as a list to developer or try to fix it myself.
The whole forum seems to be crammed in. I liked the old one better, it was much more organized.
When I went to look at the Secret Santa Christmas in July thread, it mixed up posts from page 1 with posts from page 2.

And all in all, I really just don't like this new one.

Maybe it's because I've been used to the old format, but it just doesn't seem right.

Thanks,

The posts are mixed up. Let me do something in the background that may correct that. This explicit information is what helps me make the site run better for you. Thank you!

The whole forum seems to be crammed in.

Turning off signatures helped a bit. It still looks like posts are just quotes with no reply to me, but that'll likely pass in time.

I do wish the post headers were on top of posts like before, not on the side, but in time that weirdness should go away too. It crams more in a smaller space, Part of the oddness of that may be the posts here are typically short, so the avatar and info on the side seems all jammed in

If you want it to look less "crammed", go to your preferences and do the following:
  1. Turn off the sidebar
  2. Turn off signatures
For reasons I haven't yet put my finger on, I am finding signatures to be more annoying on the new system than the old (I am also noticing how many really excessively large signatures are out there; seriously people we don't need to see your life story below every post).

Maybe it's because I've been used to the old format, but it just doesn't seem right.
It's *mostly* because you're used to the old format. The new one does still need a bit of tweaking here and there though.

I gotta say........Angie is doing a stellar job at staying on task, being open to criticism, trying to find solutions to problems, and mostly just staying calm in the face of some major panic attacks some folks seem to be having. Lots of pressure, and she is holding up well so far. THANK YOU ANGIE!!

For myself, I have to admit my first reactions was "I hate it, yuck......WHY do they have to change it!?!?!" But after calming down a bit, seeing some immediate solutions to issues I had at first glance, and taking Angie's advice to give it some time, I'm quickly moving toward, "this looks like it's going to be okay......maybe even better than before". I'll keep an open, and optimistic, mind for now.

my 2 cents, for whatever it's worth..

1) I tend to hit the back button to go back to the forums. the new format seems to be slightly longer to flip between pages; forward, back, next, etc..
2) not a fan of the 'like'. seen it abused toooo many times in the past. If I recall, we did once have it here (or TRF) I like Angie, so I'll like all her posts. Regardless of whether they offer help, sound advise, positive comments, etc.. I don't like John, so I won't like any of his.. Even though he may be the expert on [insert topic here]... (Actually, I like John too, and his [insert topic here] skills are truly top notch! :D )
3) I miss the indication of where that person is from.. Kinda lends a bit to them, their post, and helps pad their post with their demeanor / intent..
4) quoting comments seems rather small..
5) no 'go to last post' button in the forum thread title, we used to have that, helps sometimes to just jump to the end of the thread to post.
6) Dunno if I care to see the avatars of the thread starters. I like the simpler common icon, and whether its blue for 'new content' or grey, or locked!

3) I miss the indication of where that person is from..
If you have that set in your profile, it will be displayed under your avatar on the left. I think all that info got cleared out when the software migration took place, so you need to re-enter it. You'll notice my location is shown over there on the left.

If you will go to the Support and Announcement Forum, you'll find more information. The site has transferred to XenForo software and all the settings are not completely done. Trying to stay up as much as possible, so there will be no downtime.

Questions and answers will be looked for in the Support and Announcement forum.
interesting

In response to Neil:

Most of us did. I guess it's something we all need to go and re-edit..

And a note to admin: I tried to "quote" Neil, but all I got was a grey box at the top of the screen, it hung for a second or two, then disappeared. So, not too sure how to quote a post..

edit: looks like the "quote" button(?) I see on people posts is to toggle "multiple quotes". can't seem to find the "reply with quote" button. lemme look some more..

Ahh, it's "reply"

The signatures are defaulting to a different font than posts, and a slightly different color. I think that contributes to a perception of visual clutter.

Gary,
With all due respect, if the forum software won't let you put that in your sig I'd consider it a feature, not a bug. I've already (somewhat reluctantly) turned off signature display on the new forum, but if I hadn't already, seeing that animation all over my threads would make me do it.

Your signature is not the right place for that sort of thing. *Maybe* a very subtle animation if at all, but not something high-contrast with a lot of movement like that.

That could be part of it. Also, the way they float in the same area outside the content area along with all the stuff on the left, and the various buttons and indicators below.

Am I to understand that there is a time limit on posts? As in you cannot go back a week or two to edit data as needed... Say like when "puke bucket" alienated many of us, and we had to go back to old threads and replace pictures that the bucket used to host? I'm not a fan of timeouts on posts, as newer data should be allowed to update useful threads. Otherwise, the new format is not to unwieldly at the moment.

Actually, there is. There's a blue dot to the left of the thread title that, when clicked, will take you to the first unread post.

It used to be in the old format. But it was waaaay more subtle that what you are seeing. Just ran across the bottom out of the way. Scotty dog had one too and it was that running Terrier doggie animation. Posting it in the thread the way I did made it 5 times larger than it really is. But the picsig wouldn't accept a pic either. That was my whole point.

This should be larger. It works on a computer screen, but is impossible to use on a mobile browser.

For most (but not all!) views, you can also tap on the Time of the latest posting, all the way on the right (not the user name, the actual time stamp), and it'll take you there as well. It's pretty easy on mobile.

OK fair enough.

Signatures would be great if they were smaller, and people kept them tidy. Photos, gifs, and what appear to be book reports made me finally click them off...
