Need a little help getting going on the TLP AGM-78. I cut out the nose tip "hat" and it seems a little small. When I cut what I thought the tip should look like, it was about 2X what the instructions show.......... am I missing something? Plus, I cut it out of styrene to get anything close to being strong enough for the tip.......
Thoughts?

I've built that one and don't recal any problems.
is it possible there was a picture of the template in the instructions that was used rather than the actual template ? thats all I can think of

Fill the "hat" with epoxy when applying it to the NC. It'll be plenty strong.

No, epoxy works good on styrene. Solvents are another story. I use solvent based glues for styrene because it actually melts the plastic and sort of "welds" the stuff together. The problems come in when the glue is too hot.

I like the idea of filling the cone with epoxy.......;)

Thanks

TLP kits are scale model kits that are carefully designed to fly on specific motors without extra nose weights. They should be built exactly as the manufacturer specifies using the specified materials if you want them to fly on the engines they were designed for.

OK, now I have pictures of the problem. In the first picture, you can see all the parts plus the instructions with the cone cut-out. The small cone is the cut-out and the big cone is one to look like the instruction picture. The next two are pictures of the cones on the PC80 NC. Pictures (scale look) seems to favors the bigger cone. The small one favors the instructions (Bob ), What am I missing? Thoughts?
