Well, I have to say I am amazed that there has been no thread about the "Sky" Model Rockets in the latest newsletter (#186) from Apogee. I'll be ordering at least a Condor and a Dynamo when I have a few spare bucks.

Any others take your fancy?

I saw them on the website, but I have never heard of them before. Where are they from? Does the company have a website? A couple looked cool, but I don't want to buy any until I know more about them.

I ordered 3 models yesterday (Long March 3, CZ-2E, and Shenzhou), but I'm not sure my order went through. Right after I placed the order I received the newsletter link, but when I tried to download it nothing happened. I haven't been able to connect to Apogee's website since then.

EDIT: Just received an update. They did receive my order....it shipped today. :)

I plan on taking a look at them. (That said, Apogee's site still appears to be down. I hope they get back up soon.)

they are chinese imports.
wonder if this means Apogee may import and sell chinese BP motors?

Pre-painted with plastic fin unit = no interest to me, no matter how cool the finished product looks, but then I'm more of a builder than a flier.

I like the looks of the Apogee "Diamondback." It might be 'fleet' worthy.

"Sky" rockets. No thanks. Shame on Apogee. There's too much Chinese garbage in this country already.

BUY AMERICAN!

Not impressed with the rockets, but... why in the names of Orville and Stine doesn't any AMERICAN company produce a launch controller with an LED? Who wants to replace BULBS when they drop their controller by accident?

I built my own controller, and using an LED was neither difficult nor expensive (you do need a resistor as well as the LED, but it's not like that was hard).

How come I can't access the apogee website?
Anyone else having this problem?:thrasher::marchmellow::cool::party:

I never pursued getting any of those motors, as I felt (and still feel) that I did not have the time, the money or the right connections to make it "easier" importing them.

The attached thrust curve data uses simplified chinese, so if you don't have that installed, all you will see is a graph. (If you have it, please do fill us in on what the grid numbers are!)

I have cleaned my pc out since I made that attachment and have no need to install chinese on it again, so I can't tell about the grid and what it shows but from memory.
As I recall it, the time frame for each and every square was .3 seconds, and the thrust peak on the B motor was 14. But as I said; that is from my memory only (and to compare myself with computers, I am old, slow and bulky...)

For all having issue with accessing Apogee's website, they sent out an email with a 10% off code of "web-error" to use on orders (probably by phone if you can't access their order page).

I cannot access the Apogee website. I've tried via the above link and by searching Google and going directly to the Apogee website, but no dice.

Kinda wanted to look at the Chinese rockets. Boo hoo.

I just ordered a Shenzhou and five of the Condor gliders (for a school competition in the fall). They should arrive in the next couple weeks. I'll try to post pics when they get here.

im with you jim i love building and flying...but wheres the fun with half painted stuff and plastic fins...no challenge there :D

I too enjoy a good build but between work and family I have a very limited amount of spare time . It can sometimes take me months to finish a model. That is why I have several ready to fly and easy to assemble kits but most of them are boring (with the exception of my mini marz lander wich is one of my favorite rockets). So to see some quick and easy scale kits to throw together and have something cool looking to fly really appeals to me.

Here is the kit. I have not yet opened it.
I was surprised how well packaged it was in the box it came in.
It has quality parts in my opinion and I can't tell if the tubes are plastic or paper.:D

Sounds good. I think you need to have some simple kits 'in the stash'. You never know when you need a quick fix, or a present for a budding aerospace engineer. :)
