The ATJOE1972 Rocket Program.

The inner workings of the ATJOE1972 rocket program. It's stunning victories and crushing defeats in the world of model rocketry.
Having more launch sites is great. You mentioned 29mm. Do you have any models? Get this, Wallops Island rocket center in Virginia is only an hour from us. They only allow up to C motor. I brought my 29mm and could not send them up. A big disappointment. And what is nice you have visitors there from all over to watch your launches. It was still fun. Outside the museum they have "Rocket Garden" with a lot of Prototype rockets from years ago.
I have a few Estes Pro Series II rockets that take 29mm. Only have launched black power F15-4 motors in them. I have some composite F & G motors, but need beefier rockets to fly them. That crazy about Wallops Island allowing only C motors. Have you seen any of their 1:1 scale launches?

You are correct about parts. I think its "e rockets " has a full line of all parts. You can take instructions from a vintage rocket on line and build it like it was new. Like the little "Micron" we used to fly the heck out of to achieve heights. Also "Estes" sells parts.
I’ll have to check e rockets out. I really want to clone a Estes Nomad from the early Eighties. The original nose cone and fin can are plastic assemblies

Yes I have. I saw the supply rocket for the space station Antares go up about 7 years ago. I was about 2 miles away from it working in a new home and had no idea it was going to go up until somebody told me. It sounded like Thunder and the ground was vibrating a little. It was awesome to watch. I have a video of it uploaded on Youtube. The quality is awful because my Phone video camera sucks. But the sound is great. They launch many rockets there including many sounding rockets..Sometimes from an hour away during the day you can see an ascending smoke trail in the sky when one goes up. People who live near there are taking a risk should a rocket malfunction and go their way and Wallops always gives them the warning.

That would be really cool to see one that close. I’ve seen two Space Shuttle launches many, really decades ago. I was several miles away, so they were just glowing balls in the sky. I’ll have to try and find your YouTube video. That would be unnerving to be living so close to an active launch site. I’ve been following the activity in Boca Chica, Texas with Space X. Those people are way too close for comfort there. I guess the local Sheriff makes all of the citizens leave their houses when Space X does their tests. From what I understand, the Space X Super Heavy booster will have twice the thrust of a Saturn V 😳

Nomad is a cool looking rocket
I guess you can clone the plastic pieces with a 3D printer, the plans are out there. I don’t have a 3D printer unfortunately. The Nomad was my last rocket to fly during my original rocket career 🤓

How long ago was the last flight of Nomad? You should be able to get the parts. Try "Jon Rocket.com"

Wow! Did not know of Space X ,thats Like 2 million pounds of thrust I think. I remember seeing the Shuttle go up from Cape Kennedy a couple of times when I lived in South Florida in Ft. Lauderdale in the 80's. A small white speck with a smoke trail. I was about 200 miles away. You were much closer to it. Must have been cool to see.

That whole Space X thing is going to be amazing. Our Grandkids will be learning about it in school someday. Unfortunately both launches had pretty thick cloud cover. It was still cool to watch. The sound on one of them was quite eerie. Nothing like what I thought a rocket would sound like.

I last flew the Nomad in September of 1980. So forty years ago this month. I did check Jon Rocket, unfortunately no Nomad parts. However I did find a ton of other parts I can use for other projects. Thanks for the information 😉👍
