Has anyone done this before?

Tom's awesome upscale of the Fliskits Deuce got me thinking about a 3 x 29mm upscale of the Tres. I see that Jim sells the motor mount:

Has anyone bought one of these and used a scan of the parts to do an upscale? Also, does this design make the rocket more stable than traditional clusters, or is it just for the cool looks?

Yeah, it's safer as long as all 3 motor light and the alligator clips come off. Mine went horizontal as soon as it left the launch pad when motor #3 didn't light and the clips stay attached until I ran out of wire...:eyepop:

Hmm? Well I think the theory goes that canted thrust is safer than in-line precisely when you have a situation where not all motors fire, as there would be comparatively less rotational force. But only if the cant angle is intentionally set to intersect the CG, not with just any old off-axis thrust. Or so the theory goes...

FlisKits offers the Tres engine mount in 13, 18, & 24mm versions. We also offer "Build Packs" for the 13 & 24mm that include the engine mount, body tubes, custom nose and adapter, and more.

Cool stuff for anyone wanting a model rocket up,or down scale of this popular kit!

Yeah, thanks Jim. I saw those and I think I'm about to order a Deuce and Tres motor mount from you this week.

Any chance of a 29mm tres mount? I just ordered a third 29/180 case and a bunch of parts to build a 3 motor cant rocket.

If you maintain the original 15 deg cant, even 29/180 cases may be a little long. (They will hit each other in the front.)

It is a 4 inch diameter rocket and I plan to aim them at the CG, so Hopefully I will not have to much sticking out the sides. Still debating on how tall I want to make it. With a full 48 inch long Blue tube, the nose cone and the full boat tail it stand a little over 6 feet tall. Thinking about cutting it down to 24 inches of Blue tube.
