Over the week end I watched Star Wars III, my wife came home and caught the last 15 mins or so and today she says to me "I would like to watch Star Wars", then she says let's watch I thru VI, what can I say I'm a lucky man:grin::drool::cool2:

Did you fast-forward through most of Eps. 1-2 and half of 3??

I just read the blog on what Machete order was, and I think it's brilliant!!

My wife has never seen Star Wars, and I think I'm going to sit down someday soon and make her watch them in Machete order (without Ep I).

Cool - let us know how it works out. My boys have watched IV-VI several times, an they've been (kinda sorta) exposed to the storylines of I-III through the lego star wars games. I think I'll have them watch II and III as part of a Machete order viewing at some point, but it won't be the same as using for someone who's never seen star wars.

Try watching it in "Machete Order" : IV,V,II,III,VI (I is optional)

:D

:jaw::jaw::jaw::jaw:

I *REALLY* wish I knew someone who hadn't seen Star Wars now. I'm tempted to do as he mentions, try to clear my mind and go through in Machete order just to see how much more awesome it is. I'm even willing to allow the prequel trilogy DVDs into my home to do so.

Why not just watch the movies in order of release? The time line is what it is and you can't change the past, unless you are JJ Abrams and if you are JJ Abrams you must be stopped before you destroy the universe.

There are a few problems with that as outlined in the blog post about the Machete order. Mostly the order of release puts all the backstory after the main drama has played out, and this makes the I through III movies suck just that much more. The blog post is a really long post, but it's pretty interesting, and makes a lot of sense.

When I have a long rainy weekend one of these days, I think I'll have a Machete Order Marathon and see how it works.

That's kinda my point, the prequels suck but they are what they are. I've never been a Star Wars fan anyways so I probably just don't get it.

The prequels suffer through a number of problems: Anakin is just plain unlikeable. He goes from 'slave' who seems to have it remarkably easy as a slave - to having the whole Jedi thing handed to him on a platter. He isn't tempted or tricked into the role of Vader (he's lied to exactly once and that's after he's armored up) - he just sort of goes from obnoxious to kind-of-an-@$$ to moderate @$$ to full-on-raging-@$$. Lucas was too big for his britches, so nobody had the nerve to tell him his dialog sucked. Lucas' predilection for digital everything gave the films a cartoony look that begged for, not mere suspension of disbelief, but an out and out leap of faith into the CGI nightmare.

I often wonder if folks are too hard on I-III. I feel they were a let down, but not near as bad as some say.

Other than Jar-Jar Binks, and some of the amature acting by the young Anakin I don't understand why ep.1 is such the object of bashing. I think the sword fight scenes with Darth Mull are some of the best from the whole series, and the pod racing crashes are excellent.

+1 on JJ...

And now they've turned the Star Wars Universe over to him to screw up...:facepalm::facepalm:

Later! OL JR :)

I think you hit the nail on the head... and as chuck pointed out, I think people tend to be harder on them than they aught to be...

Writing THREE "prequels" for a story that's already been fleshed out, where we already know where everybody and everything ends up, is REALLY difficult. We KNOW how things turn out, and so you ONLY have *so many* different paths you can take to get there in the end... and YOU HAVE to get to the "history" you already established in the first three movies (the original three). Now, maybe he COULD have written it on a "better path" than what the prequel movies ended up being, but then again, they probably could have done worse as well. I think if it could be done over again, jettisoning Jar-Jar out the first airlock one came to would be a great idea... maybe making Anakin something less of a butt as someone pointed out... but then again, if he was wise and stable, he wouldn't end up as Vader would he?? See my point?? Lets not forget that Jar-Jar, bumbling buffoon that he was, ended up serving a purpose-- he stood in for Padme during the vote on the military creation act that established the Grand Army of the Republic (Clone Army) and voted FOR it... so basically the entire rise of the Empire can be partially attributed to this shortsighted and bumbling idiot politician playing directly into Palpatine's hands...

At any rate, the prequels are pretty good movies... certainly not as good as the originals, but then, most things aren't... like the new Treks, the new SW leaves a LOT to be desired... they're heavy on CGI effects and light on story. Cest les vis-- seems to be a common affliction of "modern filmmaking"...

HMMMMM..Why does this sound so familiar?????? OH..I know, I've been seeing it and hearing it for fourty years, especially now, every time I turn on the news.

I contend Ep. 1 and 2 could be edited into one decent movie. (Get rid of Jar Jar, all the awful acting by the kid, get rid of all the romance mush-mush in Ep. 2.)

Ep. 3 is OK, probably as good overall as 4 and 6.

I stopped going to the theater to see Star Wars after the third one was released. They show Clone Wars on one of the local stations here. Last week at the local McDonald's, someone called out to their pre-school-age son, "Anakin".

Anyone remember the Star Wars television special starring Art Carney?

They need to ditch the Ewoks in 6

Really????Some one actually named their kid Anakin?? WHOA, I couldn't imagine.

I named our newest (at the time) cat 'Mr Fumble'. Strife and Dischord, however, decided that he should be 'Anakin'. Hence 'Anakin Fumble'
