Very much appreciate the nice comments Dan,John and Rick !
Perhaps onr day I shall record my memoires and get it printed ,look for it in the FICTION section LOL
I think if you start building for others, the fun goes away and the stress takes its place ,and no longer becomes fun.
Besides ,I`m too big of a procrastinator (much like Sather) LOL
Dan ,
I`ve been using Tamiya Tape since first getting into airbrushing and aircraft model making ,well over 13 years ago.
I use no other for masking ,but i do use the plastic bag method and brown craft paper and 3M Blue for filling in ,BUT only use 3M Blue on painted sections if the paint is cured for at LEAST a good week ,longer usually.
In fact ,normally wait that long before masking with Tamiya tale also ,as it`s just not worth the risk of ruining the undelying paint because of impatience.
OF COURSE......flat paints are an exception to this rule ,as they dry faster due to the flatening agents etc. and can be masked in a couple of days.
I always remove the tape masks ASAP and NEVER let the masked parts sit in the hot sun ,you risk leaving tape marks in the paint as the enamel softens.
It takes months for enamel to fully cure (I love lacquer for that reason ,cures fast and can recoat anytime) even after two weeks you can sometime stick your fingernail into the paint and smell it.No smell pretty much cured and hard.
That`s why I do not normally clear coat white paint jobs until several months later (3-6) if at all.If you clear coat the paint too soon while the enamel is still offgassing ,it gets trapped in the clear finish and can turn yellow.
OK...enough of that.....got afew pics
Sorry for the long lecture
Bye bye !
