I can't find it in the Estes catalog and the part number on the instruction sheet (Estes 072695) doesn't mean jack to Google. Any leads or ideas?

I believe it to be the same as the big daddy nose cone.

I take it that yours developed issues. balsa machining services lists a pnc300k that should work. or you could post a wanted in the sale section and see if someone has a nose they would be willing to part with.

Well, on Monday I will call Estes and see if they can help me first.

I need to add 2 oz to my Leviathan for an engine I want to use but I don't want to fly with that extra weight all the time. So I will add epoxy and BB's and fill with foam for use with H motors.

If you happen to be one of us old guys who grew up mail-ordering stuff from Estes back in the 60s and 70s, and if you remember being able to order one-of-these parts and four-of-those parts, and if you are hoping to do the same thing today....

You should understand that Estes changed long ago from an overgrown hobby to a profit-driven business. Estes does not make its own parts on little machines in a back shed in Penrose. Estes gets bulk shipments of bagged kits that are manufactured in China. Estes has not had giant heaping bins of parts for many years. About the only way Estes can ship you a specific part is if they are feeling generous and send a complete kit, or if one of the guys in their shops happens to have a spare part laying around and is willing to part with it.

You will usually have better luck posting a note here, asking if anyone has a lead on a source. Or, if a balsa substitute is OK, SEMROC has an option for you. Or, if SEMROC somehow does not offer what you are looking for, Balsa Machining Service will make custom NCs to your specifications, or our own Sandman (here on TRF) will also make custom NCs for you. Both have very good quality, very good customer service, very reasonable prices.

Good luck, hope you find what you need!

The Wizard (named Vern) left town decades ago.

The wicked witch ran the place for quite a while.....

I had some decals tear while I was building a Red Max,and asked Estes if I could get another set from them, they said they no longer have spare parts here in the states as all kits are made in China now. They sent me a complete kit. They have a great costumer service department. This was awhile back when this happened, they might be able to help.Good luck, hope you have some success.

Build a removeable weight system in the nose cone out of a eye bolt & nut, bulk head and then add or remove large washers as required.

YEP, That's how I do it on every build now--upside--it's easy--you can change weight as you need to tune the rocket--damn near bullit proof. Downside---not quit as effective as having the weight right at the tip--but that's pickin nits.---H
