I wanted to post a picture of my completed Wildman Jr that I am going to be using for my L1 attempt. This is my first post on the forum and I wanted to say thanks to this forum and Lmt56 for all the information. Now I'm waiting for good weather so I can fly it.

nicely done! Looks like it's sitting on an Intex Pool Filter

good luck with the cert!

Braden

It is an intex pool filter. I like to call it my high tech paint stand. It consists of two landscaping bricks a rake and the pool filter

Looks great and welcome to the forum. What is that green paint?

Its gamma green color shift paint by Rust-Oleum. I found it at my local Lowes for $10.98 and couldn't pass it up at that price. You have one great build thread on the wildman jr. Thanks for fixing the picture I have no idea why it uploaded that way.

Welcome aboard!

May I copy your post to the gallery?

That is a great looking WM Jr. rocket. Now put some Sticker Shock Chrome decals on it. It will really stand out.

Looks good! What motor will you use? I love putting AT 480 loads in mine, flies great to around 3k feet. She flies nicely on higher thrusting H motors too!

I used this rocket for my L2 last year.

Good luck!

Looks good Tim.
Lets hope next weekend we can get it in the air. Peoria or St. Louis.

I will be using the pro38 H125 for the cert flight

After a couple days of no sun it is finally sunny. Once I get the digital camera charged I will get a couple more pictures of the wildman Jr uploaded.

I'm also looking for some suggestions on how much shock cord I should use. I have the 1/4 Kevlar and will be flying it dual deploy.

I will defer to the veterans here, but for 56 oz, I think a 30" chute is awfully small. I was thinking about 48" in mine. Remember....part of a cert flight is getting it back with no damage.

Thanks for the info. I just used the recommended chute on wildmans website but if I need to get another I will do so because I really don't want to damage it. What brand of chute will you be using?

If it were my cert flight I would go no bigger than a 36" chute. Dave remember you must bring it back also. The WM Jr. if built right is very strong. I fly my WM Jr. and WM DS Jr. on a Recon 30 chute from Wildman. No problems yet.

Hey Tim
I have a PML 48" you can use. It has a large spill hole and is the largest chute I have been able to get in my Little Dog.
I also have a 4' RocketMan.
Are you going drogue less and what alt. are you deploying the main? 700' ?
Are you using shear pins on the nose cone?

As of now I'm planning on going drogue less and will be deploying the main at 700' but depending on the conditions the day of the launch might have to change it up. I'm using 2 #2-56 nylon screws on the nose cone for shear pins.

Here are a couple more pictures I was able to take today that show the color shift effect a little better

Well, I guess maybe the recon chutes are far more efficient than the ones I've been using. I have a bunch from https://www.rocketchutes.com/ . I've been using one of their 36" standard nylon ones in my Estes Leviathan. Going by their weight calculator on the site, they suggest 48".

Last weekend I flew my Performance Rocketry Mad Dog at Thunder Struck. Pad ready weight was 16lbs. I used a Recon 60 for the main and had a very soft landing. No damage at all. So I really don't think you need a 48" chute for a 4lb rocket.

What??? The Leviathan weight is 17.5 oz. Their calculation comes out to a 25" chute when I do it. They say to round it up to the 30", but I wouldn't, I'd go with a 24".

I didn't divide up that thought very well. I fly my Leviathan on a 36" Rocketchute. Their site recommends a 48" for the Wildman Jr at 56 oz.
