Very nice! Looks slick and very colourful!
Great job to the tech guys and the admins.

It's kind retro.
That was the goal on the logo.
Check out the other artwork by the guy who made the logo. Definitely check out the Travel Posters section of his site!

Me likey. The retro look is cool. But can you find a way to blend the advertisements into the retro theme? There's no border around the ad box, no graphics, no nothing. I just see an ad on a blue background, and it seems out of place.
We discussed what to do with that, and there's no "one size fits all" answer. It's up to the advertisers to decide if they want to modify their ad to fit in better.

NOT,,,a web programmer, but how difficult would it be to create a retro frame (like a cinema screen, etc) and have the ads vertically scroll from one to the next?
Carousels are pretty easy -- lots of code out there to do them. They work well for static images (we use them at the day job). The ads here are a mix of formats, including Flash, and the Flash ads need to be visible for the duration of the animation, which presents issues with the carousel.

While I like the new look generically, it is a shock to the system. I'm one of them old dogs I'm sure I'll get used to it soon. I have one slight problem to report. I use Chrome and when I select 'notifications' on the top, the drop down menu disappears behind the ad. Don't know how easily fixable this is. Don't know if the mods care. Don't know if I care. Just reporting it.
Muchos gracias senor!Yep, we care.
That's a z-order problem; I know how to fix it -- I've dealt with it on other sites. Just gotta find where that setting is in the ad software.

One question though: In each post in this thread (and presumably everywhere else) there's a little document item that when you hover over it, it says Default. Seems like it takes up real estate uncessarily. Any way to turn that off?
HEre's a pic of what I'm talking about:
