This could go in the gardening or cooking threads, so I’ll just post it in neither. :D This here is a saffron crocus in our front yard. We’ll pick and dry the stamens before long.

I called the Cigar store to see if anyone found my Yeti drink mug my daughter bought me 4 years ago. I think I left it on the chair next to where my power chair was.. I've used it all day, everyday since I received it.
EDIT: Found it in the bottom of the Pipe tote.

Sounds yummy. As for rocket motivation, is something wrong, or is it just a couple of those blah days?
No. Just work getting in the way. I need today off. I will build tomorrow. I hope to get the motor mounts and fin cans done on two rockets tomorrow.

Set up ISS Vanguard and watched a few tutorial videos. Hopefully will start actually playing tomorrow.

This is another RPG-in-a-box campaign game where we play as the science, engineering, recon, and security section leaders aboard the ISS Vanguard, humanity's first interstellar spaceship.

I was thinking about starting a thread talking about our playthrough of the campaign, as it seems like the kind of story that would interest fellow rocket people. Go ahead and reply to this post if you would be interested in reading such a thread.

Timed our charity 5K - raised 15k for wells in Sierra Leone.
Ran 13 miles.
Watched Women's IMWC - Lucy Charles Barkley dominate the pros and cheering on some clubmate age groupers.
Ate Lasagna.
Tired, but good day.

Boxed back the mixer I just fired up as the 1-30 reverb settings are all the same sound, that's what I get for buying the really cheap Malaysia crap. And I have to pay $7.20 to return it.🤬

I viewed and took some quick photos of the eclipse. Where I live the maximum was 80% of the sun being obscured.

I didn't plan ahead and didn't have the proper filter or glasses for viewing the sun. In 2017 I experimented with polarizer filters and found that I could stack 2 of them then rotate them so they excluded most of the light and that would work well enough for photography. I could look through them brieflly but there is some question whether filters that aren't made for sun viewing block out enough of the invisible wavelengths to be completely safe. In earlier experiments I found that stacked polarizers and achieve about 16stops of ND filter. I used a 100-400 lens on my Nikon D3300, it being a crop sensor camera that gives me 600mm equivalent. I had also made a pinhole box with about 24" focal length for quick viewing.

Day 179
Status unchanged. Cat food crisis has been averted! I slept in. You don’t understand how that goes with me. Or how 'profound' that is.

I am an amateur astronomer. Or maybe was? A lover of observational astronomy since I was in my early teens. Aka the early 70's., Today there was a solar eclipse. At 7am to around 11am, give or take, PDT. Just a partial one. My location was not under the annular ‘ring of fire’ path. Too far south. And not of course a total eclipse because the moon was to far away this time.

But I slept through it(!) Did not bother to look. Such is my mood much of the time. Just want to stay in bed.

Eventually I did get up. Around noon. But only because Penny was mad about brunch being late.

Sat at the dining room table and read the news. All bad. Then watched some rocketry videos. Then decided I need to get more exercise for the day and took a walk. Only a mile. But better than not. I did not close my ‘rings’ (an Apple Watch thing) for like the 3rd day in a row.

Then worked on finishing the ‘finish’ on a rocket. The Bullet. Vinyl stripes and such. Now? I sit here and type. Dunno if helps me… but I do. Then? Eat something, talk to Kim about the day, cry a bit, then bed. Then? Lather rinse and repeat. Just a life I never would have imagined a little less than 1/2 a year ago.

I miss you Kim. It is so incredibly lonely without you.

More house renovation stuff. Picked up some plumbing supplies at our local wholesaler. Vanity, stone benchtop, basin and tap now in bathroom. Moved the plumbing upstairs for the expectant arrival of the new toilets. Filling holes, preparing walls in the upstairs toilet to paint.

Went out with friends to a local middle-eastern restaurant last night.

Mowed the lawns.

Reinstated the plumbing to the double-bowl sink in the kitchen. Had one bowl being redirected to the front lawn since there was a drought probably a decade back.

No rocketry :( .
