The mood here in the UK is one of shock and sadness.
To put her reign into perspective, she'd been on the throne for 6 years before man went into space. From the day she inherited the throne she worked almost every day for the good and stability of our country. Her only days off were for illness, childbirth, and two days off a year (Christmas and New Years Day). She was still working yesterday, doing her 'red boxes' of government documents.
RIP Ma'am. God save the king.

I appreciate very much that as heir to the throne, she was driving ambulances and repairing trucks in WWII. And that one of her grandsons served in combat in Afghanistan. That's a commitment to public service that politicians should aspire to.

I confess to a morbid curiosity into what regnal name Charles will take, and how many nations will drop the British monarch as head of state.

RIP Elizabeth.

Was never that interested in the Monarchy (although I thought that Princess Diana was pretty hot); however, I'll just leave this here: She was 96. I'll be lucky if I make it to 60.

It was announced a few hours ago that his regnal name will be Charles III.

One of the US TV networks was talking about her life and they said she had three actual vacations since taking the throne. Three vacations in 70+ years. Yikes!

She was working on official business yesterday.

I've always been interested in the British Royalty. And Queen Elizabeth seemed such a lady and lived through a heck of a lot of history.
Now she can know she fulfilled her promise made when she was 21. RIP QEII, your Prince was waiting.

She not only lived through history, she made history. Perhaps her greatest contributions were the creation of the Commonwealth and the establishment of a modern constitutional monarchy. I think history will look favourably on her reign.

I'm very sorry for your loss. For some reason it affected me too, and I've never even been to the UK. I was four when she took the throne. Her passing comes at a time when other current events like cost of living and energy concern the people of the UK, and there is some sign of protest, strikes and such. I hope you guys and gals over there will all be okay when we come out the other end.

I can imagine it must be quite a shock. She reigned for 70 years! A person would have to be quite old to remember a previous monarch. And what an amazing historical time period too. I’m sorry for the loss of the Queen.

During her reign she met every serving president from Truman to Biden except for LBJ.

According to the great historical authority Netflix and the show The Crown, Princess Margaret met LBJ and charmed him with dirty limericks!

I never have made it to England, but am saddened by her passing as she has done so much for the world.

One thing that caught me totally off guard is that the National Anthem for the UK is now going to be different. For us, it would take a pretty major change for our National Anthem to change, but it seems to me that the UK has had a major change today that impacts individuals very differently than we feel for the passing of a major political figure here at home.

It is sad news, but for someone to do all the things she has done throughout a huge time of influence and improvement, I feel that "Well done, good and faithful servant" is what I am feeling today. I hope that is true.

Sandy.

We Brits always muddle through.
