The drag will be less in the thin Rocky Mountian air on a hot, dry, summer's day. Like me droogs say; the mindsim is as clear as the azure sky of a mid summer's day. Time for a little ultraviolence down in the trench and then off to the Korova Milk Bar for some milk plus. I like mine with drencrom, but vellocet is nice too.

I keep googling your words.... to cypher out your prose.. ;)

I'll admit, when I put the rear shield on... I thought about Captain Kirk ordering the shields raised.
The Empire does not incur the cost of putting shields on TIE fighters because shields are cowardly. No need for hyper drives either. Just maneuverability and fire power! I think Lucas had watched way too many WWII films. Should have put some meatballs on those TIE fighters!

And there we sat at the Korova Milk bar making up our rassoodocks on what to launch when the waiver window opened. Beware of the Moloko Plus, a knifey moloko with synthemesc, it makes you buy and use many large motors during the weekend, leading to a Black Tuesday after the launch when you discover your bank is empty.

It will be interesting seeing the rear shield in action, catching all the displaced airflow coming around and off the Tie cockpit. Base drag is one of the few friends an oddroc has. Would a heavier E12 0 be better? Only the shadow knows.

How many fluent Nadsat speakers do we have on the forum? 🤔

Better.. It yields a bit more altitude, but it's not worth a CATO risk, IMO.

Maybe I missed it. Is the tube between the Tie and Xwing clear plastic? At least for display.

That's the plan, any recommendations on a source?

There were some Sophistos from the launch alliance under their pop up, all graveeting over their Sims. No cares as science had alleviated all their doubts as to the cruel nature of stability. Oh my brothers how I wished to continue to be online in public, but realizing I was just a lowly droog I could only slowly sip my Moloko Plus. A little Dim I am. Yarbols and Great Bolshi Yar Blockos, I will meet them on far away pad with clip whip in hand. May me milanki oddroc twang off the rod and out of sight. With chain on tractor motors no permanent cables will be cut. Throw tool chucks at me mindsim and I stay firm with me reasonness. Do be do. Best to say no more. Bedways is rightways now. Homeways for some spatchka. Right Right.

Read A clockwork Orange, It's a great book.
If you have a choice, Read the Non- us version; There's a whole chapter that wasn't in the American version, and wasn't in the movie.
I used the book for a book report in HS. :)

I'll add it to my reading list. Thanks. I just finished "Uncle Tom's Cabin", I'm currently reading "The Educations of Little Tree".

Chapter 21, The Redemption of the Oddroc Scum. Set Little Alex on the straight and narrow, the orthodox path of 3-4FNC. I am cured. Mein Fuhrer, I CAN WALK! :)

Received the Apogee Components patented "TIE Fighter Tractor Beam Kit" from USPS yesterday. :headspinning: It's in the "Bed, Bath and Way-Beyond" section of their online catalog.

It'll be toasty on the inside after the first use anyways... I bought (2): One for display and one for the initial launch.

Everything fits good and snug.

I wonder what's the best way to put gap staging holes through a clear plastic tube? Maybe heat up the blade of an X-Acto knife with a match, then spin it through? Any thoughts on this?

Laser Cannons and Launch Lug Ports

Taking care of the last few items before primer. How do you like those natural rubber Laser Cannon alignment straps?

Also tweeked the simulation, adding the canopy to the TIE fighter

Is these a way to put a removable/replaceable paper liner inside the clear tube? It could be flown with the liner in place and displayed with the liner removed. Still, you can’t go wrong with just swapping out the tubes, and I am unsure of the structural integrity of that long a plastic tube in a flying model rocket.

the REAL challenge will be adding the NEXT booster to make it a three stage, you will need a flying Millenium Falcon to pick off the Tie Fighter.

I bought extra couplers.. I could fly it with a BT-50H instead of the clear tube... but the clear tube seems up to the task at hand.

Thanks for posting the video. I guess that TIE Starfighter howl is inherit with all TIE fighters? As @Daddyisabar pointed out in Post #389... you can hear it on my version during the swing test. ;)

Spent some time today making a CAD model of a rocket heavily influenced by the Star Wars X-Wing Fighter. Also borrows from the Centuri Rocket Times X-Wing Fighter Design contest, circa 1977.

Scaled to utilize an Estes Alpha nose cone and BT-50 body tube.. since the Alpha was the first model I ever built, back in the early 70's. Since this will be my first build since the mid 1980's I thought a tip of the hat to Estes was a good call.

I'm thinking US Army Olive Green paint and stenciling...

I thought about an Honest John Nose Cone, flattened in the line of sight from the cockpit. But I'm wondering if that would drive the rocket in the opposite direction?

You're thoughts / comments / advice are always welcome.

John

Nice!

Just some removable rolled paper having been soaked in borax would protect my precious clear tube. Precious, my Precious.

What! Says Mugatu. Wide gap staging via clear tubing? Are all these people taking crazy pills! That model rocket must be really really good looking. RELAX! Obey my dog!

A simultaneous launch with a stand alone Millennium Falcon purposely designed to go unstable on the coast phase, just as the Tie-Xwing rocket stages! The Tie just tumbles away as the Xwing flys to new heights! Such a show is what we are now expecting. The crowd is queuing up for summer blockbuster action! :)

Smoked tubing: Adds to the cool factor of the post launch display.

It'll never happen for 2 reasons:
A) The Millennium Falcon is a garbage scow, piloted by an overgrown Irish Setter, and an old Hot Rodder that once had a bad ass '55 Chevy.
B) But let's look this from an analytical point of view: To make it in the same scale as Luke and Vaders single seat starfighter's... the Millennium Falcon would be 4ft x 4ft. Kind of like push starting a Smart car with a Kenworth.
Sorry for the Debbie Downer post.

A liner could be one piece if you buy the 34 inch coupler stock that BMS sells.

Or that. Good point.

I normally buy everything from BMS... but for a C-50 x 34" shipping was like 5 times what the coupler cost and BMS doesn't stock clear BT-50 tubing... so I decided to give Tim Van Milligan and the good folks at Apogee Components my money this time around.

Their videos and their online copies of Peak of Flight Magazine are so helpful, it seems only right that I patronize them also.

I've felt the same for along time. At the rate I buy anything, the difference between their prices and what I can find somewhere else is less that what I'd happily pay for a subscription to Peak of Flight.

Would the ejecta and heat of the D12 0 on one flight completely melt and scar a clear tube? It would look good on the pad though, and for the fist second and a half of the boost phase. Maybe that alone would be worth a new clear tube for every flight. Looking good is number one with the oddroc scum.
Going scale would be awesome! A high power scale Millenium Falcon launched from the away pads! The perspective would be perfect for extra scale points! If the flyer were to show up in a cosplay quality costume and driving a cool retro rod, Lucas himself might even show up!
