Last pic in this set . . . 1975 BCMRA ( Sec #217 ) Ft. Lauderdale, FL . . . That's me, just to the right of the FSI F100 - powered HJ exhaust plume. Bob Koenn ( rocket in hand ) in front of the van, next to me. Jim Tucci to his left.

Same year I went to NARAM-17 in Florida. And met the fire ants. I'd swear I've seen that photo before, a long time ago (section newsletter maybe?). Rocketeers were so young then...

BCMRA's ( Broward County Model Rocket Association - Sec #217 ) launch system was used for NARAM-17 in the "Fire Ant Swamp" . . . LOL !

Remember the hotel, the Solage International Inn ?

Yes, this is where you saw the photo . . . PDF's below !

I have a whole roll of B/W photos from NARAM-17 that need scanning. Includes D13 cato's and Jim Hartmann's Pan Am Space Clipper on its way to impact with the power line.

If you can, please scan and post ?

Dave F.
Working on it, scans of one roll done but Nikon ViewNX and XnConvert and Goog Photos are not playing well together. When I get everything straightened out I'll post a link to the Photos album. Here's a couple to start - me on the left and my Dad George Cook in the center.

And here's the genuine D13 cato destroying a nice Saturn V model. I didn't find the Pan Am Space Clipper on this roll of negatives.

If an RSO was festooned with a hard hat I would have a hard time taking them seriously.

Surely they were made for laughs. Right?

Actually, not . . . Back in the "G. Harry Stine Days", the NAR had a different "feeling" . . . Everyone wanted to look like the guys in the last photo.

Later, many RSO's glued half-rockets sticking out of them to look like they had impaled the RSO . . . LOL !

I had a binder. Lost it.

I remember when Bruce Kelly was prez and Bruce Lee was treasurer. I also remember registering the domain names for both nar.org and tripoli.org back in the day. I was the original "Technical Contact" for both.

Dave ,

Were you able to get the NARAM-17 photo's uploaded ? Link?

Thanks,

Dave F.
Sorry, I've gone away from Google Photos now that they made it not free. They might end up on Flickr, or perhaps posted here in a NARAM-17 blast-from-the-past thread. I've not yet located the *other* NARAM-17 rolls that have the Jim Hartman Pan Am Space Clipper disintegration crash into the wire and all the cato-ing D13's.

Here's some pictures from NARAM 17, Orlando, FL
The property is where Universal Studios is now.

First is the Vendor room, Bob Del Principe behind the table. Who's that facing the camera?
Second picture isn't a tire blowout - It's Vern Estes showing off an engine test machine.
Third picture is Howard Kuhn on the right. That boxy bank building in the back is still there.
