I'm working on a Punisher SS - a Punisher Sport (54mm OD) with a 38mm motor mount and extra bits for head-end dual deploy.

Question I have, is what's a minimum safe shoulder length for the nose cone side of the av bay? It's pretty tight up there and I want to maximize the space for recovery gear. Is 1 inch enough? Less? I plan to add a #2 shear pin for some extra stability.

Anybody else have some experience with the Punisher SS?

When fitting the av-bay/coupler in NC....BE SURE TO HAVE THE BULKPLATE ON TO GET PROPER FIT!!!!.....when glueing the vent band on.

Fit it in all the way...you have room. I have a 36in Topflight & 12 ft of 1/4 kevlar, plus 9in. nomex in my cone.

Also remember to put a vent hole in the NC. It's just like a payload with chute in it! Ya don't want that cone coming off early due to pressure trapped inside pushing it off at altitude where outside pressure is lower.

Here is simple build on mine:https://www.rocketryforum.com/showt...-LDRS-35-Punisher-Sport-Drag-Race-35-00-build

Thanks for the advice - I guess it's roomier up there than it looks. I ended up fitting it on such that it was 50/50 on either side of the vent band, this was snug on the NC without being super tight (it was definitely worth checking the av bay lids, one was just a wee bit larger in OD).

What did you end up using in terms of BP and shear pins?

It's a neat kit, this is my first FG and first Wildman. Only thing I didn't realize was that this kit uses the same fins as the 29mm motor mount version, so the fin tabs are a bit long. Oh well, the fins stick up a bit farther but this ended up working out nice for a fillet area. Now I just need to figure out how to fit GPS tracking in here so I can let it rip on a big motor.

Eh it's already all built up - I didn't even think about it until I had the first one tacked on. I figured they were supposed to have a bit of a vertical part. It looks fine - all blends into the fillet anyway.

Curious though if they all come like that. Mine was one of the first batch released in the Black Wednesday sale last year.

Answered in link I gave you above post.

I did use 2 [2-256 nylon pins]

Av-bay shows my GPS on backside of sled. Chute size..BP amount...cord lengths..all of it there.

Its built and you like it so that's all that matters. Like you said fillets covered it anyway so all is good.

Thanks for the build thread Jim - sorry I missed it, I think I thought it was part of your sig. The red cone is is cool look (mine's black). I think I'm just going to clear coat the whole thing, I grabbed some metallic gold Punisher decals from Stickershock that should complement the red/black nicely.
