Hello,

Awesome forum here. Wondering if someone would be kind enough to share some thoughts on a potential project.

The basic idea is 2 stage deployment from a low power shuttle style rocket (parasite). Weight is an issue so I have been searching this forum and others for a solution for 2nd engine ignite. Body style similar to https://www.apogeerockets.com/Rocket_Kits/Skill_Level_4_Kits/Orbital_Transport but a small Estes on board instead of the shuttle.

1. Fuse cord. Determine length to light during apogee of first rocket of roughly 1.7 seconds. Would lean toward the safer side of launching sooner rather than later. Would light fuse cord using exhaust of first stage. I realize the safety implications involved in this.

2. Hot wire. Proper gauge wire to get hot from first stage after about 1 second. Determining this would require looking up metal properties and also possible wire housing.

3. Minitimer4. https://www.perfectflitedirect.com/minitimer4/ always seems to be out of stock and battery weight. 9v lithium is a possibility but I’ve also been searching for a smaller lithium option that could work for a low powered motor.

Thoughts?
