I worked on my 5" Jart and figured out a pretty cool nose cone av-bay. First flight next weekend along with a first flight of my 2 stage Darkstar..... Better get working on that one too!!
This is the first day since my surgery that I have felt strong enough to do some actual hands on work. I sanded and marked the centering ring/fin pocket locations on the 98mm motor tube for my 1/2 scale Nike smoke.
L1 achieved (Loc cyclotron with H180)
I just discovered that the diameter of the forged eye bolt I installed on my 54mm motor mount for a 4" motor tube is too large to fit through the jaws of a 1/4" quick link. Looks like I'll either be tying on the shock cord or using a stainless 3/16" quick link.

That's an idea that might be worth pursuing as the quick-link ~almost~ fits. The downside is that I use stainless and it's tough to take material off. At my age, patience is a virtue I no longer value.:wink:You should be able to widen the opening a little bit without compromising it's strength - file or belt sander (with clearance on both sides of the belt).

What did you come up with for your cone? I've been mulling over the same thing - foamed the fin can of the Jart today.
