Deb and I went to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum today for their annual open house. What a first class operation !! The recent bad weather kept a few planes away. There should have been five Corsairs there but sadly only one from outside the museum showed up Saturday and was gone today. The museum's F-4U just got out of restoration last week and It's brand spankin new now!!! We left early and didn't see her fly but the P-51 and P-40 thrilled us before we left!! Here's some pics--this might take a couple posts. Some of these you saw last year , but what the heck...IMG_20150517_101744.jpgIMG_20150517_102045.jpgIMG_20150517_102134.jpgIMG_20150517_102237.jpgIMG_20150517_102517.jpgIMG_20150517_102723.jpgIMG_20150517_103213.jpgIMG_20150517_103410.jpg---I'm holding out on you more to come---

One of , if not the-- Prettiest Mustang I've seen !!IMG_20150517_112429.jpgIMG_20150517_112440.jpgIMG_20150517_112457.jpgIMG_20150517_112509.jpgIMG_20150517_114154.jpgIMG_20150517_114134.jpg I had to devote a page to her !!

Nice selection. The Panther and Fishbed are a couple of my favorites. Thanks.

A special note.....almost everything is airworthy !!!! The 104--Mig-21 and Mig 17 and 105 are static only as is the F-4 Phantom which is a 99.9% restoration as required by the Air Force !! The Panther and Mig-15 are airshow ready !!

Been to that museum...their Thud is in sad shape unfortunately. That would be something to see fly again.

I'm on board with that !! The old girl deserves better. I don't see a restoration to the level of the F-4 but a nice indoor static would be nice as would the 104.

Unfortunately, I don't know if there is ANY Thud that could be restored to flyable. Unlike the Rhino, where there are enough spares from all over the world to be able to make a flyable version, I think the only operator of the Thud was the USAF, and with all the losses in Vietnam, and the retirements of the others so soon afterwards...

Your mission, if you choose to accept it... Upload all of your aviation photos to flickr and provide a link here to them... This message will self destruct in five billion years.

Nice pics!

Wowwww,,

Thank you for going to the trouble of posting them.....
Very cool....

One thing that amazed me about the Corsair was the size of the rudder and even the trim tab. They are probably over 80% of the area of the vertical stab assembly:y:

Did you go to Discount Model Trains not far from there? That place is seriously cool too.
