I have so much tshirt dye from when i tie dyed in the past, and im wondering if i can use a little to dye the epoxy for filets. Also i have "sodium alginate" a food grade thickener used to make the dye not run. I tried both and have some pictures.

The dye did not mix well and you can see the clumps. The thickener seemed to work, i got it to peanut butter consistency and its rock hard. But it seemed like i used as much thickener as i did epoxy.

I had extra and just smeared it on.

Pigments that come as fine powders can sometimes disperse beautifully, and sometimes "glob up". Likewise, pelletized pigments. High-speed shear mixing may be needed to disperse the pigment. I had to use a cheap stick blender for some such work (red and yellow iron pigment powders, pelletized Prussian blue).
