The Nike-Tomahawk

I'm getting ready to build SEMROC's Nike-Tomahawk and convert it from 18mm to 24mm. I also planned on doing a build article on it for here as well as BCR's Facebook Page for my rocketry kiddos. The problem I have encountered is that I like to write up a short history of the vehicle and in researching (thus far) I have found little more than footnotes about it.
I was sort of hoping to find what experiments this combination was used for and when. What I have found so far is mostly the pedigrees of both the Nike booster and the Tomahawk. I've checked NASA and Dryden's archives and really found very little. Anyone have some insight or suggestions?

according to this index https://www.nar.org/pdf/magindex.pdf there have been two articles in the NAR "Model Rocketeer": Feb 1974 and May 1983. I bought the CD with scanned copies of MR February 1972 thru December 1979 from NARTS, but the Feb 74 issue is missing (however it is bookmarked -- but the pages are missing). NASA publication SP-4401 lists sounding rockets flown 1958-1968 there are several references to Nike-Tomahawks, and a listing of the rounds launched is in the book. It is available online at

I did find the NASA history page as well as Astronautica page. Both provided snipits of information that I could put something coherent together. Thanks also for the index! Thanks for all your help guys!
