This cable actually uses 5 pin connectors, but only 4 are populated. Looks like standard connectors on each end, but I just wasted 2 hours looking about for a source for them. The JST end is 1.25mm pitch, looks like what connects to LiPo type batteries. The other is a standard 0.1" header socket, albeit very flat, as it mounts horizontally (parallel) to the circuit board.

I don't have the tools, nor the patience to try to make one or repair what I have. The wires on the JST end broke off. If I can find one, I'll get several for spares.

Like many PerfectFlite items, it is shown as sold out.

Help!

Hans.

I'm assuming it's the 1.25 mm end that broke.

This is the connector:

You will need to crimp each wire with one of these terminals though:

While it is possible to crimp these on without the dedicated crimper, it is very difficult without it.

Alternatively, you could buy pre-crimped wires and assemble them yourself in the connector header:

You'd have to cut the old connector off, then splice the new one on and cover wires with heat shrink. If I didn't already have the crimping tool, I'd probably go that route.

Hope this helps. If it doesn't work out, PM me.

Thanks.

I'm scratching my head a bit, as most solutions seem to involve large quantities of wires/pins/connectors. I'd like to get the same pre-made cable, if available. I was hoping that it might be something commonly used, but apparently not. Perfectflite shows the cable for only $2.67, or the whole data transfer kit for $24.95. But the cable is "out of stock". So far, emails to Perfectflite are crickets.

It looks like my choices are to buy bulk supplies for something less than the whole transfer kit and have lots of spare bits on the shelf, or just get the whole kit. It's been ages since I've ordered from DigiKey. They must have a minimum and/or a shipping fee that would make single unit orders impractical for something this cheap.

There are a few vendors on Amazon selling 5 pin pre-made pigtails. I might have to go that route. I have Amazon Prime, so shipping on cheap items is practical. I'm thinking of this:

LATTECH 12 SETS 5 Pin 1.25MM Female Single Connector with Wire 150MM 1007 28 AWG

https://www.amazon.com/1-25MM-Female-Single-Connector-150MM/dp/B075YDKZPR/
It'll give me 11 spares for the next time I screw up and break one!

Shipping from digi-key is not bad. Maybe $7 for ground shipping for small orders. Regardless, you'd be stuck trying to manually crimp the terminals. A pre-fabricated assembly of the 1.25 mm pitch end is definitely a lot easier. It's a shame you don't live closer as I could re-do the crimps for you. I've repaired maybe 5 of those for other people. It really is a bad choice of connectors for repeated use.

Thanks.

I'm following this thread because I'm in exactly the same situation. I'd be glad to buy one of your spares for some reasonable combination of cost and shipping. That would at least knock it back to 10 spares.
