I'm thinking J350 with an airstart / airlaunch of the little ones after burnout.

Sorry - big picture. Go to Wikipedia and search for StarStreak under Laser Guided SAM.

I'd still like to see it modeled, but any airstarting of the 3 'mini-rockets' would be off-scale.

They're just 'darts', not propelled by anything other than the booster's intertia.

They may be darts, but they're ones that explode right? Therefore "just darts" doesn't seem to fit.

Deandome, you get to Bong yet this year?

John

Yes; the darts carry explosive payloads and do not carry recovery systems. The boosters don't carry recovery systems either. So, like any scale models of missiles, the model won't quite work the same way as the real thing. In this case, the darts will use their "explosive" in a safe manner while travelling, rather than in one quick burst at the end of their journey. :)

Personally, I think someone in the Army saw my MIRV Gatling (or its predecessor, the kit MIRV Gryphon) and thought it was a good idea. They lack ambition, though, having only three sustainers. :D

Interesting point. I guess maybe the closest you could come to complete mission profile accuracy would be to model an ALARM. They go vertical if their target turns off its RADAR and loiter under a parachute on the off-chance that they'll foolishly turn it back on.

Adrian, that is awesome!:D

After a bloodhound kit comes out... we can make a few, call them the Bloodhound Gang, launch them, then make a montage video, and then an actual Bloodhound Gang songthat has part of the refrain go "Burn mother ***** burn.

Note to self. Call doctor about that perscription.

Here's my Thunderbird. :)

The Bloodhound might be trickier because it had no decent vertical fins on the sustainer; where Thunderbird had such fins, Bloodhound had ramjets. The top ramjet had a very small fin on top at the back. You might get away with leaving the ramjet nacelles completely empty and using them as tube fins, although I'd find it hard to resist the temptation to put motors in them. :D

And if you think that looks weird, take a look at the contemporary Sea Slug...

FIN-tastic....we need kits!!

Hmmmmmm
Brit missiles like the Bloodhound and Thunderbird would be very interesting kits (as well as the StarStreak). Maybe after NSL I can take a look at that.

How about a 4-D cluster with a timer to ignite three tiny MMX or A darts? That would be neat and a very good first step to the J to F's model.

Your not to far off what I was thinking Jason:)
At minimum dia on the micros I'm thinking the booster and sustainer may be BT-60? do maybe a D12 or staged.. but if that's done you might as well make a bunch of darts cause you'll not likely see them again LOL

I was thinking make the darts the size of Yankee's or Alpha's and then make the booster in the size of a Executioner, staged with a cluster.

I think you'll need the slightly bigger size because you'll need a timer to ignite the darts. Also, maybe you could use something like the PVC SPIDER to keep the weight down and help insure ignition.
