What would be good to use for shroud lines with a homemade parachute (low power, 6,8,12,18 inch chutes). I've heard unwaxed dental floss but haven't' tried it. Embroidery thread doesn't strike me as being durable. Any other ideas?

Coats and Clark Button and Carpet Thread is what one major vendor used before the owner passed away.OIP-C (5).jpeg

I have used thin kevlar fishing line. It does not fold as nice as the carpet thread, but it is very strong.

If you go to a good sewing store or maybe Hobby Lobby they can tell you what the stronger threads are.

Carpet thread, as above.

All cotton, survives hot ejection charges better than nylon.

I use Nomex thread as it’s already flame resistant. Size Tex 109. All thread is based on a size, not strength, and is measured in what is called Tex. Low power rockets with Kevlar usually use Tex 346. Nylon and polyester threads are plastic based and would most likely melt.
