My club has had issues with our launch site at URI over the past few years, so I've started looking for alternatives. There are several sod farms in southern Rhode Island that might be suitable. For example, this one near a local high school: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.4563139,-71.706165,1979m/data=!3m1!1e3

I assume that if I could get a TARC team going at that school, we could likely get a land owner to be receptive to the idea of launching there.

I don't know how to read aeronautical charts like those found on SkyVector.com. Could you guys give me a hand in interpreting them to see if there is potential issues with the FAA? I'd like to know if its even possible to launch on a given site before I approach a land owner.

You might also look at one of the flight radar sites like this: https://www.flightradar24.com/41.33,-72.57/8 Based on what I saw there, it looks like most of the traffic into Boston is north of you, and other planes in transit nearby were at 35,000 feet or so. Our local-ish launch site that is in a similar situation has a waiver to 17000' above sea level (14000 AGL). Granted, that is also in the middle of absolutely nowhere. What's your waiver at the other launch site nearby?
