Pardon my electrical ignorance.
After reading some of the replies to my questions about controllers, I thought I'd take a leap of faith and try to construct a simple one myself.
I went to Radio Shack to pick up a project box, thinking metal, but all they stocked was plastic.
Is this suitable, and if not, what would work better?

And if anyone has a link to a website giving directions for a true novice that has never done anything like this before, speak up!
Most of the website show boxes for multiple rockets, or a maze of controls, would like to keep it safe but simple.
And there are no rocket clubs listed anywhere on the net for northern Michigan, so having someone look over my shoulder isn't an option.
I plan to use an AGM battery suggested in my other thread for power.
Thanks to all of you for helping.

The plastic project boxes from Radio Shack are acceptable and if you get a short they are non-conductive so you are unlikely to get shocked.. I made my 12 volt HP launch system out of two of those boxes. The plastic boxes are much easier to drill holes in for mounting the monentary switch and the removable phono jack security 'key' switch. I also installed two mini jacks so I can plug the 100' of wire that leads to the battery and igniter leads. Here's a pic of the handheld unit.

If you are patient and can wait for UPS, order online. It seems half of the time spent on this hobby is gophering and waiting.

Some of my favorite electronics places. Search for utility box and you'll be presented with a bewildering array of thousands of boxes from which to choose:

https://digikey.com
https://mouser.com
https://www.alliedelec.com/

Good deals from surplus houses. You can usually find a box of some sort through these guys:

https://www.mpja.com/
https://www.allelectronics.com/

The tool box idea is great! Or you can look through the electrical isle at Home Depot and find some 3 gang boxes and blank covers.

Every now and then when this subject comes up, I'll post about this company... https://www.pactecenclosures.com/ . The cool thing about them, is that you can get up to 2 different enclosures ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! Well, they've changed since I did it last. Now you pay for shipping, but when I got them you didn't. Click on the free sample link, and part of the form you fill out is what you need the samples for. Put in something along the lines of "prototype construction for future manufacture" and there you go.
