So, I am working on a LOC Patriot - 4-inch. Just wondering what best location for parachute attachment to shock cord. I have made a CRUDE drawing on paper (because my computer design skills only exist in my head) with two options. Since the Patriot divides about midway in the body, does it matter if the payload/nose cone section is above or below the main sustainer section? So, should the parachute attachment point be closer to the payload/nose cone section or nearer the sustainer?

1, Otherwise the nosecone will smash into the fins and you'll either have half a fin, or a hole ripped inside the body tube and motor mount tube.

Yes, #1 but ensure cord from chute to BT is long enough so the nose does not bang against the booster.
