Our next CMASS launch is October 23 at Woodsom Farm Park in Amesbury.

Setup at 9:30. Launch from 10:30-4:30. Micromax to J-impulse.

Weather is likely to be sunny, cool and breezy in the morning. Better in the afternoon.

Two of our local vendors, Fliskits and AMW/CTI will not be here as they are going to Red Glare, so if you need any of their products, contact them ASAP to make drop-off arrangements. Roadrunner will be in attendence.

See you Saturday. Last minute notices posted on https://www.cmass.org

Looks like I will be at this launch (So much for starting the new job mid Oct). I have three kits I would like to sell. Semroc Mars Lander, Thrustline Fire&Smoke (open w/o chute), and a Launch Pad Exocet AM-39. See you there :)

Bummer that I'm going to miss this one. Looks like a good day to fly up here. I'll see you folks at the next launch though! :)

Sorry I'm missing it, too, but it is about 10 to 15 degrees warmer out here in Chicago so I'll try to muddle though.

Don't know if I'll be able to get over to the hobby convention this weekend.

Bill, to the plumbing supplies; could you save me a couple of left-handed, adjustable metric pipe wrenches, please? I'm trying to develop a new thread sealant that uses Teflon tape for something more than deocoration. Thanks. :p

Is there a "bite me" emoticon?

Looks like I'll be absent too. The wind doesn't look that great for tomorrow. 2.5 hour round trip drive on a windy day bites. Too bad we can't move it to Sunday.

I made it for a few hours in the afternoon. It was windy! but still a good day. I only launched 4 rockets, but had a great time. I did not get any photos.

I started off with my Jupiter 2 PMC on a A10pt

then on to my Spaceman knock off on a A8-3.

Next my Thrustline Black shadow on an A8-3

Finally I flew my Semroc Falcon on an A8-3, in the wind it really glided!

It was great to see Tony, Bob, and the rest of the CMASS gang and meet Dan

All in all a good day!

Good to see you too Mark.

It was windy but not as bad as it can be this time of year.
It did get better later in the afternoon and I got in a few more flights at the end of the day.
I had 8 flights, all good except one. I'll be posting a video of the one exception.

OK here's the video I promised.
It's my Regent going unstable on an E9. I should have known better than to launch this in the wind with on an E9.

Here's my contribution to the bad flights gallery.

Skip to about 30 seconds in. Howard had this uploaded to YouTube before we got our food at the restaurant.

I believe the correct phrase is "Nice try, Bill." You know what my reply is.

I'll post a still later that made the bad flight worth it.

I'm sorry, Bill. :( I didn't mean to confuse you. I don't give people a hard time too much so I'm not up on the hip phrases all the cool kids  are using.

Missed seeing you guys in my backyard but we're having a grand time here in the midwest.

I look forward to seeing your posting. Tony's video certainly can be applied to some other threads here about trying to boost with a motor that would be okay on a calm day but doesn't quite do it for a windy one. Your hybrid will need more explaination. At least Howard posted it before dinner so he could digest well.

Just for you, Bill, a few more emoticons. :jaw: :caffeine: :dark: :marshmallow: :bat:

If you can't have a good flight you should at least get a good picture out of it.

The motor was a 54mm Skyripper J348 which would have made for a really nice flight in that 14 lb. rocket if it worked properly. The fill tube burned near the nozzle instead of the other end where it's supposed to. I still haven't figured out what I did wrong. I actually read the instructions as I was assembling it.

There was no damage to the rocket unless you count the dirt I have to scrape off. It's all fiberglass and when I built it I filled in the tip of the nosecone with epoxy.

It was a cold and windy day, but Sean and I had fun launching rockets. I noticed that CA did not work at that temp so the one repair I had to do I ended up using epoxy (hard to get it out the bottle but at least it worked). Here's what i flew.

I had one flight on Saturday. My Escape Velocity on a H152 Blue Streak for a great flight to 2,188 feet. I have to cut down the all-thread to the altimeter bay as it punched a hole into the body tube just above the fins. I filled it with 5 minute gel epoxy and put a layer of 45 minute epoxy over that. It is ready to go once again.

I attempted to fly my Viper IV, but the wind kept whipping the rocket around so much that the clips on the clip whip kept coming off, so I scratched that flight.

I had my Shadowloard ready, but my table blew over and one of the fins broke. That has been repaired and is ready to go. I also had a 24 year old Estes Magician that was also going to fly, but that fell to the same fate as the Shadowlord, and is also repaired and ready to go.
