Miah picked out a Cherokee E at Hobby Lobby, when we opened it Monday night, the body tube was crushed. Estes is sending a new tube. Miah claimed my red max, which is cool, because I wasn't in love with it anyway. Lol

We got the motor mount made, and the fins marked.

The kitten has made off with one of her launch lugs. She is 4 different kinds of trouble. Super cool cat, but she doesn't care what humans want.

Yes sir. I will. She is something else.

Zola is me made over as a girl, we just jive.

Miah is just 90 mph in 4 different directions at once.

She will focus on this, making anything, she focuses in and does good, but it absolutely has to hands on and fun.

She is a real sweetheart.

Roll your own. You can make a lug using a BBQ skewer or other dowel of the appropriate diameter as a mandrel to roll a short piece of index card around it using a glue stick to spread a uniform thin layer of glue on it before rolling it into shape. It only needs about two layers thick of the index card paper around the dowel.

I found some heavy paper straws. And I have the ignitors tube from the f20 engines.
So I am going to rob another kit of its launch tube and sub in a replacement.

Any reason why we cant use a long single launch lug on this rocket? I think she will have a hard time getting two tubes lined up perfect.

Please excuse the fin lines. She did the lines herself on the door frame. We will use a fin jig so they are not critical in this case and I wanted her to learn.

This is motor mount instal and filet.

It went well.

Letting fins dry prior to sanding, rounding, and install.

You can line them up pretty easily with a launch rod, or by laying them next to a piece of angle on the body tube.

Or, use a single 2" lug, placed just behind CG (roughly).

Looking good so far, she's doing very nice work. 👍 👍

Having a nice family launch pad is a bonus for when there are no club launches. As a matter if fact, I've never been to a club launch. I use this pad my son built 30+years ago... see here.
Even if private launching is your main thing, I do strongly recommend going to a club launch at least once. It's a very different experience, and a lot of fun.

Thank you!

The launch was moved to Sunday. We have church and can not go. We are all disappointed, but such is life.
Have fun. May want to go small motor on first flight, I’d hate to see such a valuable rocket lost on its first flight, and unfortunately I have seen it happen.

Cool build-thread! some of my favorite build-threads are the ones with the kiddo's doing the building. Good
I got the decals on for her last night.

She wants to build a big rocket next.

I have a Cherokee E that I finished last night, that was hers but it had a crushed tube.

I have a perfect partner here, Momma cant get aggravated since she wants to make Miah happy too.

Ahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

This is great.
