Hi all,
I want to make a spill hole in an Apogee 36" rip stop nylon parachute. Does one do anything with the edge after cutting? Super glue or sew?
I'm planning on a two inch hole. The weight of the rocket is about 11 ounces.
Thanks for your help.

For ripstop, sewing is the way. Most would recommend cutting with a hot knife (or a soldering iron with hot knife attachment), but properly stitched it's not 100% necessary.

If you don't have access to a sewing machine, I've had luck sticking ripstop together (for patches) with a smear of shoe goo.

I would say, always cut ripstop nylon with a hot knife. Even a 25+ watt soldering iron will work. Sewing is also recommended but it can be very difficult to get a seem made in a continuous circle. Most times a spill hole in a nylon chute is done by shortening the top of each gore and stitching that before the gores are joined.
