It seems that the NAR permits it, but is it done?
I did not, my L1 was back in the day before good longburn H motors and before I was doing a lot of rocket gliders. Itar here did his I believe. The point of a cert is to show you can successfully build, fly and recover a rocket, so you are safe doing it on larger things. If you know how to fly RC doing your cert with one is neat but doesn't really teach you anything for building and flying larger pure rockets with recovery, if you are going to just stick with glider recovery then you don't really need those skills so I get that. The build and flying/prep skills are different of course.Did @burkefj do his L1 on a RCBG? He's the RC boost glider king.
