Laser in the house...

Checking Google Groups I just realized that I was already a member of the 'Opensource Laser' group - I just hadn't realized it because I didn't have it set to send emails. Anyway, browsing through the posts there, there are several different controllers mentioned, including the Smoothieboard. Apparently it's use as a laser controller is well documented, and coinkidinkly, earlier this year I'd bought a Smoothieboard to use for a future printer build. So, at least for the time being, I'll be converting it over to Smoothie.

Congrats Ari, you're already a few steps ahead of me.

We're ahead in different ways. I'm very curious to hear about your experience with the Smoothieboard. For one, I run Linux everywhere else and would be happy to avoid carrying a Windows machine just for the cutter.
