OK, this may be the dumbest question ever, but...

Does every can of spray paint come with a ball inside? I have been shaking a 13 year old can of Krylon Acrylic Crystal Clear Gloss (number 1301), for three minutes now and I still don't hear a ball rattling around inside the can.

The ball is there to mix the solid components of the paint with the liquid. Colored (or white) paints have solids (pigments), flat/matte/semigloss/whatever paints have solids (flattening agents), but clear GLOSS coatings generally do NOT have solids, and thus do not need balls. Krylon doesn't put one in here, and the instructions don't say anything about it. No need to worry about lack of a ball for this. A 13-year old can might be sketchy for other reasons, though!
