I'm wanting to put together a website that identifies and promotes the Open Source / Share-Alike models of development in our community. What this means is that anyone can take the designs and use them as long as they don't try to restrict the freedom of the design or its derivatives. But I really need your help to identify these projects so that I can write about them. Here's what I have so far:
OpenRocket https://openrocket.sourceforge.net/
Altus Metrum https://altusmetrum.org/
Tracker Soar https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1250163085/tracksoar-aprs?ref=nav_search
Rocket Track https://www.rocketryforum.com/showt...Track-Open-Source-GPS-Tracker-for-Smartphones
AltStick https://www.digitalmisery.com/projects/altstick/
OpenAltimeter https://openaltimeter.org/
I don't know of any Open Source 3D printing projects yet, but we should really get onto that.
We are in a new era of self fabrication. Too many people instinctively reach to protect their 'invention' when in fact their 'invention' will be copied and derived from anyway. Wouldn't it be better if the design of the invention was shared and the community benefited from the derivatives of the invention. Most people will still buy the pre-built production units but those few self starters who want to tinker with the engineering will help to make the product better.
