That will work, also. It does not take special shrink tubing when you use dog barf. If you need a link to Amazon, I often buy an assortment and use it on all my shock cord sizes to protect knots and sewn joint areas. Is it needed, maybe not, but I prefer it.

In the DFW area (and other Texas cities) a wide variety of heat shrink tubing is available at Altex – an old school type electronics store. It’s possible there is a similar kind of chain in your area. Unlike the precut kits sold mostly online, a 4’ length of the smaller diameters is $3–$4 each. They typically have a wide variety of colors as well.
