Fiberglass finishing

My kids each got a Wildman Jart last year at AirFest. They are built finally and ready to paint. I have never built a fiberglass rocket before. What grit of sand paper should I use before I primer and paint it. I assume regular Krylon or Rustoleum will work for paint.

Make sure to wash it down BEFORE you sand. alchohol is a good bet as well as other solvents. Wipe it down before you sand so as not to sand oil, release agents, so on and so forth, into the surface . If the surface is good--400 should do the trick
