Featherweight GPS System

Quick question from those people who use the featherweight GPS system. I could not find the answer in the manual or elsewhere so I thought I would ask here. I know the system provides the GPS coordinates of the rocket, but does it automatically transfer that information to a map app or does the FIP point you to the direction of the rocket? If communication is lost with the rocker once it gets on the ground, does the FIP still point to the final location?

I don't think it does live mapping yet but perhaps someone else who uses the system can answer. It wasn't a priority when it was first released. (That may have changed so don't hold me to it.) All Ham APRS trackers (like the 70cm and 2 meter Beelines and others) can be live tracked on a map. In fact when the Beelines first came out I think around 05 it could be done then. The EggFinders and other NMEA trackers can be hacked to display on a map of Ham APRS software and the Android app GPS Rocket Locator and there is another one called Rocket Tracker if one can find it.
I would suspect one would be able to get the last know position off FIP and manually input it into a mapping GPS for graphic positioning. Kurt

Currently it doesn't include a map and we have been asked to allow easy export (copy) to put in a map location of your choice. It does point to the rocket and give range to the rocket. If the signal is lost, it will point to the last location.

Someone else had to tell me about this post; we usually follow the Electronics thread more so I didn't see this one under 'recovery'.

Thanks everyone. I thought it might point to the rocket location even if it lost contact. Just trying to understand as it is not really covered on the website. Considering getting one in the near future.
