Some of you might find this interesting: the story of Montreal's (failed) Mirabel airport: "Gateway to N. America!"
Pilots, business people, developers, urban planners, etc..

For me, this is somewhat personal I grew up with this always in 'the back yard'. I flew out of it numerous times (and the horrid drive to & from it!) It had super high expectations, but it all came crashing down over a 20 year period. Sadly, it's now nothing more than wasted dollars & occupied land many are upset about (and want back!) . You can, however, now rent a very high-end car and 'race' around a track on one of its tarmacs (ICAR Racing)..

I don’t know much about Mirabel, but Montreal is apparently one of very few cities in the world having the capacity to build an airplane from A to Z. It’s also where the ICAO HQ is located.
