Worked on the Leviathan yesterday and Partizon. Idk why I used that elastic shock cord(yeah I know)its really no good. Its hard to rip, but its just trash after 10 years. But this is definitely better, and will go over the shock cord attachment point with epoxy(Partizon will get the same, these are the only two bullt this way and won't be again!!). There was no other way. But its ready, also hit the Partizon tail, ..Be kind!! But I built this rocket 10 years ago and wanted to keep it how Estes said to build it and also had much less knowledge about high power rockets. I got an old collection back about 3 weeks ago, and that no joke is about $3,000 more worth of parts to the probably $1,000 I've spent on my newer rockets from the mini honest John to the 38mm MEGA Der Red Max I'm building since May. I would never build a high power rocket with a paper tab to the body tube...This is just a fix and I'm not setting any records with this so it will be more than fine. I know there's a few other ways but this was the best option. I get to engrossed in one thing and ill work on this work 24 hours. I sat last night and hand made parachute protectors from about 530 pm to a little after midnight and made 2.....lol. So, I appreciate the tips for building but this is just maybe to help someone else out. I talked to a guy that made a 3D printed insert he put his shock cord on and epoxied that into the body tube. Something like that would ha e looked nicer but this is the same thing and I made it with poster board in about 30 seconds.
Got the Partizon tail fixed up. I'll let that Rustoleum 2X white dry for a few days then tape it off an do the forward section in slate Magenta like I hit my Super Alpha with(that was the test paint rocket ..) Also going to upgrade the recovery system it has to be done while thats drying. This is the last one built like that so it will be just like the Leviathan. It turned out pretty nice for a quick clean up. I'm happy with all of these so far, and they will weather permitting get launched next weekend at the SPAAR launch. Many videos and pictures will follow that day..
