I've only built the Semroc Goony version.
To me that seemed to fit the near disaster of the original canyon jump.

Had it as a kid. Did a beautiful land shark maneuver, jumped up about 10 feet off the pad, came down, and did a squirrel run around the ground for a few seconds, then the chute popped out. It was quite entertaining!
