So I ordered a product from Aerocon, in the description it was specifically called out as being a solid core "shooters wire" the stuff we make igniters out of, the product I received was a common 2 conductor stranded core zip wire which is NOT "shooters wire" I could have gone to Lowes/HD and bought zip basically speaker wire. When I emailed Aerocon the response was well thats what we are carrying now and that I can return it for a refund, well the return will cost more than the damn wire so I am stuck with it, and I still need to buy wire for my projects (I have to rebuild my ignitor supply, I do have enough lined up for the several I need to make for an upcoming launch). I ordered from Aerocon for several reasons, they are a rocketry vendor, they are on my side of the country (timing), I could order a smaller amount to get me through until I order a whole roll in a month or so, and generally have heard good things about them....until my experience I hope its a one off. Thanks Scott, I am aware of them as well as about 5 other pyro suppliers one of which is out of stock currently, what pisses me off is the response I got, and the fact they are advertising common stranded zip wire as shooters wire which it is not. I will probably by from MJG when I buy the full roll shortly but for now I just needed a 100' to hold me over for a month or so till my "allowance" comes through...

Here are the three types of wire I use for igniters (when not dipping ematches).
(As shown below)...
Solid 22/24 AWG shooters wire ($0.15/ft)
Solid 20/22 AWG twisted pair wire ($0.08/ft)
Solid 18 AWG thermostat wire ($0.18/ft) [for >M motors, no stick needed]

I bought these in 1000-ft spools a few years ago, so I'd "never" run out.
Prices reflect cost plus the time to measure it out, package it up, and ship it out.
I think I've given away more than I've sold!

The center twisted pair is what looks to be "bell wire" and it makes nice ignitors for larger motors because its pretty stiff.

Did you contact Bob about this? I've had good experiences with Aerocon, and have made several orders there without problems. Most of it was back in the days when the BATF made hybrids so attractive.

I am not going to post the email from him but yes I have, and I summed up his response.

It looks like you can leave a review on his website. Might be worth a shot and spare the next guy. It does really suck that the wire is so clearly not what’s advertised.

I have ordered from each of these companies. They were at least reliable when I ordered from them. I have also ordered 2000-5000 meter spools directly from China. You are better off using CAT5 cable and getting the solid, stranded wires from within it. Cobra is also good, but they essentially sell Seminole wire which is also sold by MJG (I think).

If you prefer shooter wire, I really like MJG.

Pyroboom is good to order from. I have used 20 plus rolls of their pink 24ga.

So as stated by CW earlier I was not starting a discussion on where to purchase the products as I already had these choices available and I had stated my reasons for using Aerocon,, but thank you for those who shared so that others may have use of those resources.

My issue was the product shipped was not the product sold as advertised and the vendor was willing to refund my money IF I returned the product to him, I had already paid shipping from the vendor, I would have to pay shipping back to the vendor for a refund which would leave me with a net loss.
