I saw a video this morning of the land speed attempt back in 1979 by the Needham - Frederick - Barret streamliner. Of course my mind went right to "I bet that would make an awesome model rocket... one that flies straight up... not horizontal.

As it turns out, it's stable and a pretty simple build.

like the days of rocket car racing back when Brent McNeely of extreme rocketry magazine, and Ky Michaelson -The Rocket Man used to have drag races on the Playa
